The St Cyprien market, the last market in Toulouse in the ‘Eiffel – of Tower fame’ style is quite a find with fresh flowers, vegetables and fish on sale in a lively setting.
La Place de l’Estrapade : Today a pleasant city square with shops, restaurants ( including one which happens to be one of our favourites !). Formerly it used to have a more sinister association as a place of torture where unsuspecting victims used to be dropped from high up into the square below.
Le Viguerie Port: this used to be the only port on the left bank of the river. Sand from the river used to be dredged up and went towards the traditional construction of local buildings.
The abattoirs museum: the former city abbatoirs have been successfully reconstructed in the style of a contemporary museum integrating a scene from Picasso’s work.
